Mission Statement:
To provide every child, regardless of special needs, the opportunity to participate in America’s favorite pastime of baseball and softball. It is our goal to provide an environment that enhances the participants’ self-esteem, physical mobility, and embodies the spirit of teamwork and community.
Who can participate?
Anyone between the ages of 5 and 23 years old, or who remain in a school setting, with special needs that would prevent them from playing in a traditional baseball or softball program.
What will the cost be to participate?
Roseville PONY has committed to fundraising to offset all costs for Champions families. There will be no cost to register. We will also not require families to participate in our league fundraiser though they may participate if they wish.
Who will coach my child?
The “Buddy” system will be allowed and encouraged in all levels of play. These buddies will assist their player to catch, field, and throw; and as necessary get around the bases. We encourage parents and family members to participate and will also encourage players and coaches in our league to be buddies as well.
What about uniforms and equipment?
Roseville PONY will provide every participant with a jersey and a hat. Baseball pants and cleats are optional. If a player does not have a glove, helmet, bat, etc. the league will supply equipment during games.
Will traditional baseball rules be followed?
The emphasis will be placed on participation and fun. There will be no outs, and everyone will bat in every inning.
How many games will be played?
Champions League players will play up to 8 games during the season. We will acknowledge our Champions players during our opening ceremonies as well.
